Bullets and Bones

Nov 27, 2007 11:43

Stuff has been going on, but I suppose stuff that isn't all that interesting. In other words, I haven't been bothered to blog in a while. I'm not feeling particularly coherent or interested in spending a lot of time on posting, but I feel like putting something down, so bullet points it shall be!
  • The bones in the title refer to the turkey carcass bones, which are now in a huge stock pot on the stove, coming up to temp before going into the oven, per Ruhlman's directions.
  • Our house is officially on the market. The sign is out front and the listing is online. I'm excited, but I'm sad. We've been in this house four years and it's a really lovely home. I'll miss it.
  • We're putting on offer on the place in Utrecht. It's got the open plan that we like, but with a few walls to help separate things out a bit. Plus, the bedrooms are separate rooms upstairs, so there's still a chance for privacy when the need hits. We're already planning how to arrange the place.
  • We've been slacking on the Dutch studying the past few weeks, what with the funeral trip, G's birthday, Thanksgiving and prepping for the realtor's visit yesterday and G's mom's arrival tomorrow. It's time to get back to studying and hope it all sinks in quickly and without too much confusion. Of course, I'm already confused as to when certain words get "tje" added on to the end of them, such as "bier" becoming "biertje". I need to find somewhere to look it up.
  • On the plus side, I've found a Dutch musician, Spinvis, who I'm quite liking. I've even recognized a few words! I know it helped me when I was studying Italian to listen to Italian music. Might as well try it with Dutch!
  • I've got some stuff up for sale on my etsy shop. Perfume pens are reduced to $5, and I've got christmas ornaments for pet lovers (dog and cat!). The ornaments have always been popular items at the craft shows I've attended. I've also got a few handbags and will be adding some etched glass votive holders. I'm finishing up my website with the pared down list of items and fragrances and the $5 price for all the skincare items.
  • The thing that has happened recently that has stuck in my head the most -- for the sheer unexpected surprise factor -- is the PM I got (yes, PM, not comment) from Jemaine. Totally out of the blue! Even he commented that it's probably kind of weird -- and it is, although in a good way, although it also makes me a tad paranoid, but then I'm surprised when my good friends say they were talking/thinking about me. ;) He was kind enough to recommend some musicians/videos to me that I might like since I'm such a fan of NZ music. Yeah.
