Dreary night in the swamp... a memory

*Indigo tossed and turned in the bed... remembering remember one of the times where the dark griped her soul and threatened to rip it away.*

She had been traded to the woman... she didn't remember by who or how... but they were living in the swamp. The woman had been nice to her and let her wander around the small "cabin" without the collar on and had allowed her use of her magic... she was grateful... she knew if she were to try to leave they would capture her again and then the punishment would start over again. She couldn't take it, they knew that even the slightest touch woudl adgitate her and the collar only seemed to heighten that... she wanted a bath... she was tired of the smell of the swamp... but the water here smelled as bad as it did outside... she wandered onto the porch and she felt it... people in the swamp... others. She walked into the room and sitting on the ground next to the woman she placed her head to the womans leg... "There are people here... one I think...." The woman gently ran her fingers along her face and brushed the stray dread lock out of her eye. She didn't touch too hard unless she was angry, and she seemed very pleased.

The woman stood and nodded softly to the girl and she took a breath and nodded moving in front of her as the man followed. Indigo turned to look back at the man and he sneered... she upset him... she hadn't accepted his ways yet... and he wouldn't trust her untill she did... They walked to a small clearing in the swamp and Indigo sat down on the log... she watched a large alligator moving closer and closer to her and she sighed and looked to the woman who nodded at her giving her silent permission to drive off the alligator. Indigo touched the alligators mind and instead of driving it off she let her senses just drift into his and merged with him for a bit... he was simple and pure... deadly... but untouched by the corruption of the dark. It was comforting...

She finally heard the sounds of slushing footsteps in the dark as a drunk... no.... mage... she didn't let the lady know... she had to fight herself not to... maybe this mage would help her...she took a deep breath and let the icy tendrils of her magic forcefully enter the woman's mind... "Help.... me...." She tried not to hurt the woman... she didn't mean to even if her contact was forceful, but she might not have another chance. She didn't even look up as the woman took a seat next to her on the log. She took a breath trying her magics again, having lost a good bit of mana she knew she only had one last chance, slowly she slid her hand to the other womans and tried again coalessing the icor of her nimbus around her trying to gain just a bit more stregnth. She fully melded her mind with the womans, she tried to shield her form all of the other voices, but she knew she couldn't but she knew to beg her... she needed the help so bad... she wanted to be free, but knew she couldn't do it herself.

She had used too much force and hurt the woman she didn't mean to. But the woman seemed strong and seemed to at that moment fly into action and she started attacking the other two. The girl finally had the courage to look up at the woman and averted her solid black orbs as the woman glowed and her presence was like that of the divine... she burned her to the quick... but she was.... beautiful.... a beauty that would start wars... she briefly remembered a story about an apple and a man... and a city inside walls.... but the memory vanished as quickly as it had come and she blinked and the woman was standing in front of her... timidly she reached her hand out and despite the fear of the pain that the pure thing could do she touched her hand and followed her obediently.... She turned back quickly to the alligator and with a silent smile she let the alligator take it's feast. She didn't want to make the new lady mad... she got her away from the evil people... She was going to have to talk to her...

They walked up Bourbon street... the bright lights the flashing signs and the noise all confused her but she finally found her voice....

"One should tell you what happened..... "

She knew she should... but what to tell her... then the further away she got from the swamp the less sense anything that ever happened there made... and she stammered... "But jumbled... don't know...." She watched the woman make a phone call and she wondered who she was calling....
