Happy birthday
daphnaea! I guess it's a belated greeting now, given our time zones, but anyway I hope it was a satisfying one. :0)
Have been sidelined all weekend with a nasty cough that keeps me up at night, so I haven't gotten to all (any) of the LJ projects I had in mind, but I did come across
poisontaster's
critique of Bionic Woman. Some very convincing points about why the new incarnation of BW is a lot less empowering than the 70's vintage. Definitely gave me a lot to think about beyond my offhand feeling that Ryan's Jaime should have been much, much angrier at her boyfriend for bionically violating her body. (Though maybe that was why she left him bleeding on the floor, while she went to go play krav maga with Sarah??) I'm still only watching it for Katee, but at least now I will do so with an appropriate amount of disdain. :0)
(Wonder if RDM ever gives Eick feedback? "Dude. So very anti-feminist of you. MrsRon would kick me out of bed if my pilot was that unsubtle.")
ETA: Just noted that Ancarett linked to a review of Pathfinder - spectacularly bad movie, from the looks of it. I just glanced over and happened to note that the writer, Laeta Kalogridis, also is writer and executive producer for the BW pilot as well as doing the script for "Alexander". *shrug*
