do they have piñatas on barrayar?

Whew! I survived the preschooler onslaught. Now we have lots of food (and candy, also known as ex-piñata fodder) and many small plastic toys. Sigh. I tried to be environmentally conscious, at least a little, on this day of Live Earth, but it's really tough to avoid plastic and paper as an urban parent. At least I didn't do goodie bags! (Maybe next year I'll do a "green" party theme. Maybe next year I'll have a theme!)

In the "you-know-you're-obsessed-when..." department, while running around today to pick up last-minute party supplies, I decided that someone should do a Lee-centric vid to the tune of "The Boxer," by Simon and Garfunkel. Maybe someone already has.

Also: though I have no need to see them made into an onscreen adaptation, I think Jamie Bamber would be just right to play Miles Vorkosigan from the Lois McMaster Bujold books. Daddy issues? Check. Height issues? Check. Derring-do and flirting with strong women? Check. And he commands an entire mercenary army, not just a battlestar! *g*

(I don't really want to see him do the Barrayar chronicles, because scifi typecasting and plus they would probably play up the farcical/comedy of manners aspects too much if onscreen, but still. Mountains of Mourning? He would rock that angst so hard.)

ETA: I would like to be the filling in a Sting-Jamie Bamber sandwich, pretty please. As wisteria_ pointed out, "They'd certainly be able to hold you up!" :0)

quotidian, jamie bamber
