I still love BSG.

I find myself less inclined to do meta for episodes these days - I just like strapping in for the ride. Sometimes it's bumpy, sometimes it's exhilarating - it's always a roller coaster!

I liked the enjambment (TM Jacob) of scenes - Gaius scrabbling for his pen merging into Laura looking for her glasses; the pilots' looks of concern melting into Laura's thoughtful gaze. And what was the lovely theme playing in the beginning, over Adama's nostalgic perusal of Starbuck's file - was that the Lee and Kara theme from Unfinished Business?

Loved the Prince of Darkness and his familiar Romo Lampkin and the business with his cat. So badass.

Am practically salivating, waiting for the payout on Lee's grief. I love and hate this slow build-up, the denial of his pain. (Does Adama know about their affair, even now?) It better be worth it, Ron Moore!

Y'know, I'm sure I'm going to get beaten up over this minority opinion (or just shunned and treated as the village idiot), but I'm going to say it: I like Season 3 better than Season 2. There were some clunkers, sure (and even there I apparently disagreed with the majority of fandom), but I thought the high points of S3 more than made up for the low ones. I'll take Hero and A Day in the Life if it means I also get Occupation/Precipice, Exodus 2 and Unfinished Business. Don't get me wrong, I loved many, many moments throughout S2, but I have loved more whole episodes in this current season than in the last. Or maybe I'm just like Jamie Bamber, in that I like best what I've seen last.

And I love how they took a whole episode just to set up for the trial. It was a lovely, elegiac hour full of grace notes - Sam and Lee, mourning the woman they loved; Lampkin seeing - really seeing - Lee, as no one else has except maybe Laura when she was still looking; the father-son interactions, so full of love and unsettled issues. And I didn't even hate Cally this week!

Lastly - I was teary-eyed this week, but not when I was watching the show. It was whenever I would watch a vid or episode from a previous season. Starbuck! You come back! You come baaaack!!!!

ETA: "Romo Lampkin" makes me think of Fatty Lumpkin.
