I finished exams today and paid an old UWaterloo parking ticket. The gears of graduation are turning and barring any
catastrophe, I will be receiving my expensive little paper in June. I feel somewhat underwhelmed, as I have long expected to feel. The end is always anticlimactic.
As most of you already know, I have accepted a full-time SDE position at Microsoft. I had a choice between two teams: High Performance Computing (my team from the Fall), and Windows CE. Ultimately I had such a positive experience with HPC as an intern that it was a no-brainer to go back, despite my desire to be an OS h4x0r (developing middleware is great fun too though!). I start work sometime in the summer... If that seems vague, then mission accomplished.
After 6 co-op terms, 8 school terms, 10 summers working on the farm, and all those years of High School and Elementary School it has been a LONG time since I had a significant break, and honestly it is going to drive me quite crazy. Here are some of my plans:
- Trip to Europe with sarahrowe after convocation
- Attend Chris & Ayelet's Wedding
- Attend Richard's Wedding
- Attend convocation and related festivities
- Spend quality time with iamdoug and the Niagara crew
- Visit various people all over Ontario -- This means you! -- Yes you!
- Visit my siblings and their families
- Binge read all those books I haven't been reading
- Buy The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and play for hundreds of hours while my mind melts into a primordial slurry
- Enjoy farm living, while artfully avoiding farm work
More reflections later perhaps, I certainly have the time for it.
