Music I liked in 2006

Dec 21, 2006 10:31

So it's that time of year again, my friends. The time of year when I make a half-assed attempt to remember what music I really enjoyed and also take a moment remind everyone that I still HATE the Killers.

Jam of the year: Hot Chip: Over and Over
Runners up: Rihanna- S.O.S, Under the Influence of Giants- Mama's Room, CSS-Alala

Favorite Track: Guillemots- Trains to Brazil
Runners up: Cat Power-The Greatest, The Walkmen-Many Rivers to Cross

Favorite Albums (in no particular order):
Neko Case- The Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
Beirut- Gulag Orkestar
Hot Chip-The Warning
The Blow-Paper Television
Midlake-The Trials of Van Occupanther
Cat Power-The Greatest
Built to Spill-You in Reverse
The Decemberists- The Crane Wife
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Show Your Bones
Regina Spektor-Begin to Hope
Belle and Sebastian-The Life Pursuit
Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins-Rabbit Fur Coat
The Stills- Without Feathers

Islands-Return to Sea
Bright Eyes- Noise Floor: Rarities 1998-2005
Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton-Knives Don't Have Your Back
Grizzly Bear-Yellow House
Band of Horses-Everything All the Time
The Walkmen- A Hundred Miles Off
The Walkmen- "Pussycats" Starring the Walkmen
The Dandybeards-Meet Ghost Bear (hehe)

Favorite Soundtrack: Marie Antoinette

New most-hated band: Be Your Own Pet (Besides being connected to Thurston Moore, they're nothing but a bunch of spoiled rich-kid high school dropouts who know how to write a catchy punk song and shop at the thrift store. Big Whoop! That and I'm just to old to get it.)
