Sisters are doin' it for themselves
Today is Administrative Professionals Day. Although, my job is a little more involved, this is pretty much my title. I seriously doubt that anyone in my office knows or cares that it's "my day" today. Dan, however, has been reminding me about it for weeks, and almost seems more excited than I am.
If you work somewhere that has an Administrative Assistant or Secretary make sure to give him or her an extra pat on the back today. I feel pretty appreciated in my office but I know that's not the case everywhere. You end up doing a lot of work for other people without getting much credit for it, you get there first, and leave close to last, etc.
I sometimes feel conflicted about having a traditionally female occupation, but for the most part I feel pretty proud of what I do and I feel like I'm learning a lot. I'd really like to parlay it into an administrative position with a women's organization, or even one day running my own pr/management firm for non-profits and/or musicians.
