Timbo came up to town, so we partied like it was 2005.

Got out of work kinda early on friday, so I went to catch up with him in South Hadley at some killer dude bars.  We went to Riverside Cafe on Bridge St, and got to listen to Daft Punk and see some mid to late 40's woman get up and dance on the bar.  The Makers Mark was full of fruit flies, too.  Some dude still had his St. Patrick's day haircut; orange chin strap and mohawk, green clover shaved into the back of his head.

Me: "Dude, you know you're haircut's a couple holidays behind, right?"
Dude: "The [Holyoke] parade is tomorrow, so it's OK."
Timbo: "April's Fool's!! Erin Go Bragh!"

Saturday was more work, more drinking, karaoke, yelling about art till 5am.  Liz made nice with a bathroom floor, Tim puked all over the side entrance to Chameleon's hair salon. We made the Karaoke DJ hate his job by performing Rock Lobster.  Long song without  a lot of lyrics.  A lot of death metal vocalizations of "dumm dumm dumm da da dumm da dumm dum"  and  "Ooh Aah."  I guess we did it in the style of Dead Horse's cover version.

Sunday was spent in the woods by the Mill River staging a ritual sacrifice for a photo shoot. Why else would my friends from Brooklyn come up here?

Also did a lot of work on my new big painting.  It was stuck for a week, so I had to break it to get the background and the foreground to pop out again.

I learned this: If you use metallic paints, use them as the base and paint thin over them.  No matter how thinly you mix the paint, the metallic shimmer kills their opacity.  Light will not pass beyond that layer.  Do not use them for over coats or accents in final washes.  Keep them at the bottom, and paint thin, transparent washes over them and they will give your painting vibrant light from with in, reflecting out from under the paint.

I'm underling that for my own reference.
