bonjour.
Okay so yesturday was ATHLETE day. In case you didn't know Athlete is this fantastic band that all you guys should start listining to. i promise it will change your life.
Anyways..their concert was last nite and it was fucking amazing. I went with Shauna and Lauren. We got there at 4:30 and no one was in line yet. We decided to go around the back to the side door and wait until the band came out because we really wanted to meet Joel (the lead singer). we were there for a good 40 minutes until we realized we werent really getting anywhere..so we went back to the font doors to check up to see if anyone was in line yet.
There were these 2 guys already lining up. We started talking to them for a bit until i turned around and saw....JOEL! i was like woah its joel! So we went over to him, starting talking and asked for autographs and pictures. He was so incredibly nice. I asked him if he cood dedicate the song "wires" out to me at the show tonite but he sed that it might be hard. After our encounter with Joel..me lauren and shauna went to get pizza. I decided to get the two guys we met earlier in line a bag of brownies!
As we were making our way back from our dinner break (pizza) we met up with our friend Tess who was coming to the show too! When we got back in line..we decided to go around the back to the side door again and when we got there we saw the band manager and asked if we could get in for soundcheck and he let us!
At the soundcheck they played Half-Light and then they played "If i found out.
JOEL says: This song goes out to debbie because i probably wont be able to do it tonite
I was so extreamly happy and freaking out while tess was telling me to stop. After they finished with the soundcheck they came offstage and signed some stuff and gave us a purple tostito chip! it was quite humurus at the time. I swear.
After the soundcheck we went back in line with the two guys whos names Luc and Justin. Must i add that Luc is a Kelvin Clein Model!
The doors opened at 9 and we finaly got in. front row centre of course. They didnt have the barecades up this time so we standing against the stage. it was amazing. The opening band came on and they were horrible. After they were done Tess ripped the setlist off the floor and when we started reading the paper that the setlist was written on..we cracked up. It was all about this vagina lip thing. it was too funny.
ATHLETE finaly came on at 10:15. They opened up with Yesturday Threw Everything at Me and it was AMAZING. I thought i was about to cry. Through out the show Joel (lead singer) gave me the setlist and said "Debbie here is going to help me with the setlist" What he meant by that is that i would be telling him what song to play next since i had the setlist. By the way a setlist is a list of the songs that they are going to play at the show.
When it was time for them to play Athlete Joel looked at me pointed and nodded. It made me feel really special. Even if he couldnt dedicate the song to me he still awknoledged me. That moment i fell in love.
At the end of the show I walked out with: Setlist, an Athlete shirt, a towel and Joels guitar pick.
I cannot be any happier.
Athlete is amazing and Joel is one of the nicest guys i've ever came across. I really do sugest you all listen to them. Download the song Wires, Trading Air and Half-Light...i guarantee it will change you.
That completes my "Athlete" day. Hope you enjoyed it..cuz i sure did.
