*****************Thanks to the Allentown Fire Marshall, Allentown Police, and City of Allentown I am in the newspaper today. Myself, the show we put on at the SilkWerks Thursday, and the owner of SilkWerks are in the paper. However I must warn you. The morning call crawls up the ass of the city of Allentown in every article that might give them bad press because the Morning Call isn't the most reputable paper but they are the only paper in the area so they can get away with it. Read it for yourself here
http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-b9_5theater.5856953may19,0,4126502.story The article is on page B9 of the local section If you have a hard copy of todays Morning Call. There are Four major lies i can point out about the article. The mayor lied about facts of when emails were sent to the owner not to mention why would the city of Allentown use emails for pertinent matters such as this instead of a direct phone call or visit earlier like real professionals would do. Since when is email ok to use in a situation like this that pertain to saftey? Second the fire Marshall was there originally enforcing a zoning violation which is NOT HIS JURISDICTION! Third the article makes it sound like the police were used to help escort people outside. This matter was about public safety. Public safety wasn't threated at all that night until the "storm troopers" showed up with paddy wagons, hands on gun holsters, and nightsticks drawn. Report that MCALL. Last lie of the article. Mike Fegley who was supposed to oversee the night lied to everyone. He has his hands in the city and his family owns Brewwerks. Fegley has too much invested in the city to speak his mind and do the right things. He said there was only 3 cops there. Anyone who was in attendance at the show would know there was at least 20. This is a public figure lying in a public forum. I have photos of him standing with atleast 10 officers. I guess Fegley Never learned to count. We trust him with money. This is not over. Spread the word. Its no wonder why Allentown is in the sad state it is today. I thank everyone who showed up and came to the show or helped out with this. The bands were amazing even those who sadly didn't get to play. They can't kill our spirit there will be more shows and the Fire Marshall and APD is more than welcome to attend. Their door charge is on me next time. I'll have more photos up soon. Until then here is a shot of the moment when Grumpus decided to shut down a non profit show put on by college and high school kids. Tax money working at its best.

In this article and in Josh's commentary you can find highlights the events of the show that took place Thursday Night in down town Allentown. As a center city resident, and someone who works for WXLV, has volunteered at the Theatre Outlet, and a personal friend of members of 2 bands slotted to play that night I am completely DISGUSTED with the behavior of the Allentown Fire Marshall, Allentown Police Department, and the staff of the morning. The only thing this concert was meant to do was to raise money for a radio station in desperate need of support. No one in attendance at the show that night could have anticipated how much trouble a non-profit show could have started. It saddens me that the news paper states only three cops where there, when 20 is closer to the truth. In no way were any of us in danger of anything....except maybe having a good time or helping a good cause. The Fire Marshall and APD were extremely rude to everyone in attendance and I didn't feel any safer with them there knowing that just a week ago members of the APD may have released MATERIAL WITNESSES to a stabbing committed only a few blocks away on 9th Street. Why are they bringing a paddy wagon to a peaceful event put on by people in their teens and early twenties when there are thugs stabbing innocent civilians and KNOWN and VISABLE drug dealers in my own neighborhood being ignored?! As a graduate of William Allen High School and attendant of Lehigh Carbon Community College I am urged to take part in my community and do my best to contribute....but how can I be expected to when what I try to help is shut down and the reasons for why are lied about? PLEASE pass this along and help get the word out about the lies being spread about this event and the people involved. This makes it seem all those involved in organizing and attending this event are some how the bad guys when it is OBVIOUSLY the other way around. Pass this word around so that we may be able to put on another show, let more bands play, and show the Fire Marshall, APD, and Morning Call how wrong they were about what they said, did, and put into print.
