what I really want is my mommy.
She would have driven out here
and consoled me.

She would have regaled me with stories of lost love.
and all the times she had her heart broken.

I guess, I'll just have to settle for my family. I called dad a few minutes ago.
I love my family. He calmed me down and then got into an argument with my brother. I listened to him tell devon that he is not my brother or his son. That devon is actually the son of (his mother's) first husband, Scott. That Dad took him in out of pity.
devon pinched him. it was hilarious.

I guess, maybe I should stop worrying about what I don't have and focus on what I do.

That's not such a bad way to look at things

1) A loving father
2) A brother (who loves me most of the time
3) An aunt who has always raised me as her own daughter
4) A grandmother who took me in
5) A variety of other family members who love me
6) The support of (most of) my family in my academic pursuits
7) The best best friend in the world
8) A flakey sissy who I love very much, and who never fails to tell me like it is
9) Two bachelo's degrees
10) A therapist I don't hate (at least not yet)
11) A Nintendo Wii
12) High Speed internet access
13) More books than I have room for
14) a place to live (that I pay for on my own)
15) enough food to keep me alive
16) toilet paper! (never so important until you've lived without it for a couple of weeks)
17) Three (that's right three) posters of Audrey Hepburn
18) A car without a hole in the muffler and windows that roll all the way up
19) spider killer (used on a daily basis, I'll never settle in Kansas, way too many spiders *shudder*)
20) A new computer
21) enough movies to get me through a hard day
22) A job at a library
23) ...

Well, it's not a long list, but hopefully I'll be amending to it as they come to me.

one love,
this american life
