I just wrote the lyrics to this new song, and I am stoked as hell! I have to write music to it, but I can already hear it in my head.
Human
Seven trillion dollars
we are indebted to the world
And it'll be another trillion
if we start another war.
Two hundred, thirty-two
languages that separate us.
But one bad attitude
and all 200 countries hate us.
Country by country;
different ways in which we pay
And an innumerable amount
of gods to whom we pray
Just 46 chromosomes
make us who we are
And if there's no hate gene
then peace can't be too far
(chorus)
One hope, one prayer
one world that we share
with one sky, one Earth;
6 billion miracles of birth
One life, one chance
to get up on your feet and dance
More than one God, but only one race:
Human
I'm a person. You're a person.
We all deserve the same respect.
No one deserves to be unjustifidely
treated like a suspect.
So break down the walls
that break up us all
Hang up your hang-ups
and give me a call.
(chorus)
So come sing with me
and get down if you feel it.
Look in at yourself
and break down all the bullshit.
Celebrate your personal ability.
Recognize your opportunity for upward mobility.
Know who you are is more than your name.
It's what makes us different that makes us the same.
(chorus) }x2
I'm really happy about this, because I have a lot of views that I never really discuss in my music. I always tell myself that I want to, but then I just write another song about a girl, or depression, or a disease that I don't actually have (yeah, Adam, that crack was for you). So, I finally got to write a song about something bigger than my mostly harmless existence. I'll update with music once I've written it. 'Til then, your assignment is to drop me a comment and give me your opinion on this.
C Ya,
Eric
