I feel like I've continuously gained weight for the past three years. I can no longer even think about wearing a two-piece bathing suit and because my chest has grown too- I can't fit into a lot of things at stores like wet seal, charlotte russe, and forever 21. I feel that my eating has gotten healthier and healthier as I've gotten fatter and fatter.
Today I just realized the cause: I've been worrying about eating too much protein. About 4 years ago my mom lost about 40 pounds on the South Beach Diet where she ate mostly protien and kept teliing me I needed more protein. So I constantly obsessed about protein and balancing my blood sugar by eating tons of nuts, soy, cheese, etc. It did help me not get so dizzy, but when I saw a post today on one of my lj communities about gaining weight- a high protein diet was cited. Duh. So anyway, I've decided to stop freaking out about getting enough protein and start really getting serious about a vegan diet.
I ordered this book called "Skinny Bitch" on Amazon and the day it came I read the whole thing. Its a book bluntly telling you about how the things you are eating are super gross. There are chapters called, "Sugar is the Devil", "The Dead, Rotting, Decomposing Flesh Diet", and "The Dairy Disaster". The book promotes veganism and also a whole-grain, no sugar (or fake-sugar) diet. I really think that limiting the amount of dairy I have eaten this year has benefitted my sinuses and health in general. I hope that eliminating it will prove to be even more beneficial. I don't know if Veganism will be my lifetime diet, but I want to give it a good shot.
I already ordered three more vegan books on Amazon.
Wish me luck or feel free to tell me I'm crazy.
