Last year, I learned that to love, is to die. To kill of peices of yourself for the sake of another.
This year, I am learning that love is risky. Selflessly risky. We need to learn to pour out our hearts without thought of getting it back. Loving is not in the recieving, though that is wonderful. True love can even be unreciprocated. Jesus came down to earth with the risk that no one would see Him. He came knowing that there was a risk that no one would follow Him. There was a risk that few things would go right. But He LOVED us beyond those risks. Beyond the risk of death...beyond the risk of never returning to see His father. Love needs to be greater than fear, greater than our desires for saftey. Love is not tame! Love is not SAFE! to Love someone is a risk. To pour out your heart to someone who might totally reject you is something we need to face. Otherwise we are merely being selfish. We desire gratification, but to love without gratification is the real test of love.
I had an extraordinaraly wonderful week! i'll tell you all about it, next post.
