Day 17 - Close your eyes and get any book from your shelf
Several attempts at this have proved that I can in fact find any book on the shelf that I want, even with my eyes closed. That would be fairly normal, but is a bit freaky given that my bookshelves only went in about two months ago. If you want a totally random book then try this.
Day 18 - Book with the most beautiful cover
Slightly cheating because it's a set, but my collection of Penguin Great Journeys with the really dusty, matt black spines always look a little bit special when you get them off the shelf.
Day 19 - Book that you never wanted to read
Most of them I just haven't read... I was very sceptical about Midnight's Children which turned out to be amazing, and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which turned out to be shit, so I've not really learned much there. The book I've wanted to stop reading the most is probably All The Pretty Horses which still has a big red scar across the spine from where I threw it at my door and it sheared off a layer of paint on its way past.
Day 20 - Book that you read at school
Hands down the best book I read for school (assuming I can't count desperately finishing Elidor while hiding it in a biology textbook) was an series of Scholastic young reader novels called The Silver Buccaneers about a pirate ship that took children to other worlds. I've never ever been able to find another copy or even proof that they exist but I remember them as being *brilliant*
Day 21 - Most stupid book you read at school
With all due apologies to fringedweller, there aren't very many books that can truly survive being a GCSE set text, but I still think Cider With Rosie was a particularly heartless choice for a group of 15 yr olds.
Day 22 - Book on your shelf with the most pages
Day 23 - Book on your shelf with the least pages
Day 24 - Book that nobody would expect you read/loved it
Day 25 - A book where the main character is almost like you
Day 26 - Book you would read to your children
Day 27 - A book where the main character is your idol
Day 28 - Thank God this book was made into a movie
