- 71

... Corpse Bride ... ((saw 2 1/2 times)) I loved this film... I've raved about it way before its release, and it did exceed my expectations. Specifically I appreciate how "Up There" is grey and dreadful and the dead are lively with full color. The Butterflies are a very pretty touch. And the spiders aren't creepy but cool & motherly. I like how the piano keys were old & worn (bare wood) on the piano song duet. I did notice the animation add-ins ::: the flames and reflection in the water (tears). The huge eyes were another good detail. The Voice of Pastor Galswell sounded like Ian McKellon (Gandalf) but is actually Christopher Lee. Another EXCELLENT film by Tim Burton & crew. 9/10

... ... Elizabethtown... ((saw 2 times)) although it received very mixed reviews I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but one part (the memorial in the Hall seemed like they could have cut that part with no ill effect to the overall story). There are numerous comparisons of this to Garden State, but this film FAR surpasses Garden State. The flow is much better and fluid. 9/10

... ... Lemony Snicketts A Series of Unfortunate Events ...(dvd) (previously rated by me 8/10)

... ... Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit ... a cute stop motion film with the familiar Wallace & Gromit who attempt to thwart the were-rabbit to prevent the ruining of the annual vegetable contest. 6/10

... ... MirrorMask ... WOW !!! Jim Henson and team created a film that is realy what fantasy is all about. I couldn't tell where the dream begins and real-life ends. They are so well blended, and the characters and set so detailed and intricate, this was a world that I hardly wanted to leave. another 9/10

... ... Zathura ... The previews were effective in getting me to see this mediocre film. I didn't see Jumanji (same premise, but in a dinosaur-era), and now I don't really need to. 6/10

...... Garden State ... (dvd) The directing (Zach Braff) was better than average, but the blase story keeps it from scoring higher. 5/10

... ... Me and You and Everyone We Know ... (dvd) Offbeat is a good word to decsribe this average film. 5/10
