Gurren Gakuenhen contains all a lot of the same characters as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but they lost a level in badass. The story basically goes: Simon is a high school student attending Dai-Gurren High, orphaned at a very young age (possibly in the fireearthquakeflood that destroyed his home), who just wishes for an incredibly normal life. Unfortunately, much like TTGL Simon, life, the universe and everything hates him. I mean this without exaggeration.
When he was a baby at the zoo with his parents, he was kidnapped by monkeys. When he was in preschool, he had problems with wetting himself so he was called “Simon the Pants Pee-er.” When he was in elementary school, after his parents died, he ran away from home and ended up on a tuna fishing boat with his bro, Kamina. His house was demolished by an earthquake, burnt by a fire and then washed away in a flood.
Simon's life was at least... vaguely normal until one day, as he is lamenting his luck, a GIRL FLIES DOWN A SET OF STAIRS AT HIM. Onto his face. No, seriously. Onto his face. (Whether this is lucky or not is up to you.) It seems the girl knows nothing about anything, having lived a very sheltered life under her father, who happens to be the headmaster of the prestigious Teppelin High. She is very sweet and naive and causes a great deal of painful misunderstandings. All of which backfire on Simon.
Like the time she decides she is going to start living with him, because she thinks they're married. Yeah, just like that.
High school shenanigans happen, they go to the beach, etc etc. Life is hectic, but fun, and Simon hasn't been this happy in ever.
Until one day, Nia disappears. Simon finds her on the roof of Dai-Gurren High, acting totally batshit insane. Turns out that Nia was so secluded as a child that she came up with an alternate self to keep her company. Yes, Nia has multiple personality disorder. But alternate!Nia wants to make sure that Simon is good enough for normal!Nia and sets up... traps... all over the school... that Simon must face before meeting with her and proving that he's worth it.
Which he very well does. And a hectic life returns...
And no one died or got turned into Anti-Spiral messengers. The end.

Personality: If there is one thing to be said for Simon--any Simon, Gurren Lagann, Gurren Gakuenhen, Movieverse, Mangaverse--it is that the boy never, ever gives up.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Try to cover the good points of what they can do, their life skills (not necessarily powers, but things they're just good at). Go into their biggest fears and what they just can’t do.

Starter: What starter do you want your character to have? You may use any pokemon, except for legendaries and evolved forms, and only the first two generations (up to Johto) of pokemon are allowed. As the game progresses, the other generation pokemon may be allowed, but as of now they are not.
