This is disheartening!
http://www.dentonrc.com/s/dws/drc/localnews/stories/DRC_Animal_slelter.b75dc6.html That is why I want to get a grant to buy the land next to us so I can open up a no-kill animal sanctuary and try to find homes for all of these poor animals that they are killing.
It is sad.
So that is my plan.
There is only one shelter near me and that is about 20 minutes away or so...and it is NOT a no-kill facility. It isn't even that great of a place.
The one in Denton is about 20 minutes from me also...and it is absolutely awful.
Some of the animals I can take in can also be trained and used for animal therapy (with hospice patients and the like).
I think this is a great idea. I haven't done anything serious like this since I worked at For The Sake of Animals.
I just have to get a business plan together and figure out how to write PERFECTLY for the grant so I will get the funding.
In all reality I have already started it...but I am keeping the dogs we have. haha
I was going to get another one today but the girl that I talked to decided she just couldn't live without him and she had been debating it and crying all night last night. I told her to call me if anything changed. However, I have two cats...they would be great mousers for anyone...
and two more will be on the way. My sister is getting rid of hers and I didn't want her taking them to a Humane Society so I am taking them and trying to find homes.
Both of her cats have great personalities. They "talk" back to you. They are sweet and not messy. Dodge is kind of mischievous. He is black and white. Piper is a sweetheart and LOOOOOOOOOOOOVES the luvin's.
It would be great if they could both go to the same home together but if that is not possible...I will keep them too if I can't find them a good home.
SO IF ANYONE WANTS A GREAT CAT THAT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH LOTS OF LOVE AND AMUSEMENT!!! LET ME KNOW!!!
PLEASE.
I need to hurry up and put all of this into motion.
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU ALL THINK.
