Summary: In which the air conditioning is broken, Onew is a cuddle monster, Minho just wants to sleep, Taemin just wants to sleep with Minho, Jonghyun doesn’t get any cuddles, and Key tells a fairytale.

a/n: LOL YOU GUYS. I was looking through some old stuff i had written and found this, and thought it was atrociously stupid enough for me to share. I laughed a lot while re-reading this, mostly because it's really lame and in my opionion, my writing style has changed a lot. xD This was apparently written in December and for some reason, i didn't finish it. (wtf is my problem) hence why it's going to be in two parts. I hope you enjoy reading my awkward attempt at fluffy humor and my old writing.
and for all you people who read Kiss Off, expect an update within the next few days. (I mean it this time.)

Of Master Story Tellers and Broken Air Conditioning: The infamous battle of Keydom vs. Bling-Bling
PART I

It was in the middle of the summer, and the heat was unbearable. AC was broken, and all five of them lay in their beds, sweaty and pissed off, glaring at the one fan rotating at the front of the room. Although, each for different reasons.

Kibum was glaring because he often came to the conclusion that he was most important, and thus should always get the things he wanted. And what he wanted right now was for the stupid fan to stop fucking turning and be directed only at him. All this sweating couldn’t be good for his complexion, could it? And Jonghyun was practically hogging it all, the singers’ bed having been strategically placed in the only spot in the room where he could feel the air 30.256% of the time opposed to the usual 25.7%.

Jinki wasn’t glaring at the fan so much as at the air vents. The broken air conditioning and the one slowly turning fan had put a serious wrench in Jinki’s own nightly ritual; a nightly ritual that included-but most definitely was not limited to-cuddling Kibum until he was content enough to drift off to sleep. But nooo, Kibum had to have some space to cool down. Jinki’s teeth clenched. Oh, he could cool him down alright…

Jonghyun had his eyes narrowed at the fan simply because it was dangerous to glare at Kibum (yeah, he knew what that boy was thinking. He always knew, that little bastard.) And directing his gaze at anyone else right now would be equally dangerous. …Okay, not equally, but pretty damn close. He had to remember that they had all learned how to properly use a tantrum to their advantage from Her Majesty, Kim Kibum, Self-Proclaimed Ruler and Dictator of Everything Bitchy and Scandalous.

Taemin normally wouldn’t have minded going a night without AC, he could really sleep in almost any situation. But it was just so loud, the mechanical hum hardly drowning out the sound of Kibum twisting and turning dramatically in his bed every four seconds and Jinki whimpering so frequently the young dancer almost suspected he was crying. How was he expected to sleep in this? At some point Taemin decided the only way he would be getting any sleep would be if he slipped down from his own bunk and joined Minho in his, where the older would undoubtedly wrap an arm around him, humming sweet nothings into his ear just loud enough to drown out everything else.

Minho wasn’t looking at anything-glaring or otherwise-seeing as how he was the only one asleep. If you’re tired, you’re tired and Minho was most definitely tired. He was jostled awake when his bed moved and the covers shifted and something small, hot, and familiar was pressing up against him. Minho had blinked awake, hum of the fan the first thing he heard, Kibum’s annoying sighs of distress soon after.

Taemin’s eyes were bright in front of him, brow glistening with sweat and hand damp when it curled into the front of Minho’s shirt. Minho made a small noise, mostly to just prove that he was awake and aware of Taemin’s presence.

The younger had leaned forward slightly, small frown visible and Minho nearly frowned too at the sight of it, mind still too tired to get past the fact that he was now awake, sweaty, and all too aware of how uncomfortably hot it was in their room.

“Hyung, I can’t sleep.”

Taemin’s voice had been loud, probably louder than necessary, but he had been around a sleepy Minho enough to know the only way to really get him to hear the things you were saying was to yell them. The simple statement got a noise out of Jonghyun, who snorted and rolled over to look in their direction, seeming to take it as an invitation to strike up a late night conversation. “No one can sleep.” He huffed, propping his head up on a hand. Minho tried to connect his brain to his mouth to tell Jonghyun that he had been sleeping just fine a moment ago.

Taemin glanced at him over his shoulder, eyes flicking back to Minho. He was vaguely aware that all noise had ceased in the room (except for the small roar of the fan) the other three occupants listening in on their conversation.

Minho realized that Taemin was waiting for him to say something, and he licked his lips, trying to think of what it was he wanted to hear. “…I’m sorry. Try to go to sleep here?”

Minho could see Kibum’s head pop up over the curve of the Jonghyun’s shoulder like one of those meerkats from that one animal planet show Jonghyun could be found watching on occasion, Jinki sitting up a moment later. Three pairs of eyes blinked at them, expectant. They all quickly lost interest, however, when they saw it was just Taemin and Minho being cuddly again.

The band had surprisingly been very supportive of their relationship. So supportive, in fact, that Taemin had the sneaking suspicion that it was Kibum who had started that online fanclub for them. (Taemin had been mortified when it found it, but Minho had gotten a good laugh about it.) Of course, in the beginning it hadn’t been so easy, Kibum sending looks that could kill to Minho if he just so happened to look in Taemin’s direction. Though all that quickly stopped when he noticed that all the couple really did was blush and cuddle.

If was one of Kibum’s many goals (and now a goal for the whole band) to get them from the Glancing-Shyly-At-One-Another-When-Alone to the Okay-I-Guess-We-Can-Hold-Hands-In-Public stage. Not a very big step, but Kibum knew he had to handle these things carefully. Baby steps.

“My oh my, aren’t they just the cutest things since Hello Kitty hair clips.” Kibum mused, bending closer to Jinki as if sharing a great joke, and the latter promptly frowned. Kibum blinked, before launching himself at his own boyfriend. “Baawwww! Not as cute as you~!”

“No, you’re cute.” Jinki smiled, nuzzling against Kibum’s cheek.

“Don’t lie! You’re cuter than kittens!”

“Pff, whatever, you’re cuter than a baby panda.”

“Oh yeah? Well, you’re cuter than TEN baby pandas.”

“You’re more adorable then-“

“Oh my god you guys. Kibum’s cute. Jinki’s cute. I’m cute. WE’RE ALL FUCKING CUTE. Now shut up.” Jonghyun interrupted, flopping down on his bed and trying to tune them out, which was harder than it had any right to be. Groaning, he stuffed his face in his pillow so he wouldn’t have to look at either of the cuddling couples on either side of him.

Taemin was completely ignoring them, focused entirely on Minho, whose eyelids were drooping as he slowly starting to drift off to sleep again. He wiggled closer and closer to Minho. “Hyung, tell me a story!”

The request took Minho by surprise almost as much as the others. He blinked slowly, not sure how to respond.

“Story?” Jonghyun echoed, tossing his pillow to the floor as his focus went back on the two of them. He shared a disbelieving look with Kibum, who paused in his intense cuddling session with Jinki to shrug. Jinki seemed to brighten up at the suggestion. “I love stories! Let’s hear it!” The leader encouraged, lacing fingers with Kibum, who shrugged again.

Minho blinked hard. A story? He didn’t know any stories. “Um… Once there was a…. uh,” He paused, noticing everyone was staring at him expectantly. Well shit. “There was a kingdom in a land far far away?”

“Wow, A+ for originality there, Minho!”

“That’s all you’ve got?”

“Laaaaaaame!”

“Well…. I liked it so far.” Taemin was a bit too sweet for his own good.

Kibum flicked hair out of his face, clapping his hands together. “Listen up my little duckies~ I’ve got a story!”

Jinki and Jonghyun looked up at him, even Taemin’s interest was piqued. Minho sent an extremely grateful look in Kibum’s direction.

“Gather round, my darling children!”

Minho's look turned from grateful to murderous when in the next second he found all of his bands mates squeezed into his twin sized bed. He was forced to sit up, Taemin latching himself to Minho, eyes wide at the sudden turn of events. Jonghyun was next to them, Jinki sprawled out on top of him and Kibum taking up the majority of the space, resting his hands behind his head.

“Everyone comfortable?”

His reply was a few grumbled moans.

“Okay, good. “

Kibum shifted, holding his hands up above him until he had everyone’s attention. “We’ll take Minho’s idea. Once upon a time, there was a kingdom in a farrrrrr far faaaarrr far far away land. A land, which was ruled by a fantastic and wonderful king who went by the name of Key-“

“Don’t you mean Queen?”

“Jonghyun, you are ruining my story. RUDE. Now, as I was saying, there was a lovely king-“

“-bitchy queen-“

“-incredible king-“

“-prissy QUEEN-“

“….Okay, fine, there was a King/Queen who held all offices named Key. Happy now?”

Jonghyun’s smirk could be seen in the dark. “…That’s better.” Minho was beginning to think this whole story time thing was a bad idea.

“Now, as I was saying, the King/Queen of this far, far away land was named Key, and he was the ruler of a nice place called Keydom and held a great distaste for the neighboring kingdom, Bling-Bling. But one day, Key is very upset because his beloved child has been kidnapped….”
