Curse of the Bambino

31 years ago (the same week he met my mom,) Chris joined a Fantasy Football Draft with his friend Kevin David. And every year since then he's participated, some years winning, some years losing, some years getting the worse results and having to sign a toilet seat Kevin has for the event. Today was the draft and the first time in 31 years he couldn't participate.

Mom is also good friends with Kevin and his wife, Jen. So when Jen called her this morning to convene her condolences, she was not surprised. More like relieved and happy to hear from a close friend. What I think did surprise her was when Kevin came on and said, "You are the recipient to the incumbent for this year's draft and, as such, you may make the first pick. How would you like to proceed?" Chris won the whole fantasy league last year and it was his right to make the first pick to kick off this year's draft.

Mom thought about it for a moment. She had no interest in picking up his football Fantasy draft. But it was a nice thing she could do now, and a way to honor him. So she finally she asked  two things: 1.) could someone else in the league make her picks for her, and 2.) could she change the name of Chris's draft. 31 years ago, he chose the draft name "Curse of the Bambino." Then, after the Red Sox won the 2004 World Series (sweeping the Cardinals in four games,) he changed it to "Cursed No Moore." Moore, like Chris Moore, his name. Anyway, Kevin agreed that someone would make all the picks, and said she could change the name. So she changed it to "One Moore Time."
