Beta?

Aug 27, 2014 10:29

Evening, IS!ers. I've popped back in after a long hiatus in the nomansland of Real Life, with a ficlet under my arm that needs a beta. Nothing dramatic, just needs someone to cast an eye over it and give it the yay/nay stamp. It's ~1,000 words, from Bertie's POV. Would anyone be willing and able?

Ta ever so.

I have never 'beta'ed anything before, but I humbly extend my services in the capacities of proofreader and editor.

Hmmm. I've been out of the fandom loop for a while. Beta used to be a commonly used term for proofreading and editing. Has fandom terminology moved on since I was last kicking about?

Also, yes please! That would be great. I'll PM you my email address. :)

I believe it is still the correct term. Regrettably I am the one who is not in 'the fandom loop', as it were. I only hope that I assumed correctly what the term beta may entail in this context.

Beta definitely means proofreading and editing, as far as I'm concerned, so I think we're both talking along the same lines!
