Idea!

So I was laying in bed thinking about the iPhone, and iTunes, and my computer. And it dawned on me - my computer shares my iTunes library over my network. The iPhone has wifi - so there's theoretically no reason why the iPhone shouldn't be able to access my computer's library, as if it was another computer, right? Aka streaming music from my library to my phone as long as I'm connected to my wifi network. In addition, this would allow anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch to access my music. Or allow me to access friends music if they have it shared.

I can't think of any reason that apple couldn't do this - after all, we already stream from youtube.com for videos, right? This would be the same thing, only locally - and music takes up much less bandwidth than video does. Not to mention the applications for academic use (looks at thunderclap8.) You could have locally hosted lectures, videos, etc. - both for universities, as well as museums or other such institutions where one might need local access to a variety of media for multiple purpose on demand.

Anyway, just wanted to get that out there so I didn't forget it, and to see if anyone had any thoughts/comments on it.

(Btw - this entire post was written on my iPhone. I love this thing!)
