So it's Jan and today's high was like 70.
Welcome to the Ohio Valley. Sometimes I think I'm 14 back in GA when the weather does this, it makes me want to jump on a trampoline and then go play Donkey Kong Country 2 or some other gem from the Super Nintendo collection.
With the new year I have been given new inspiration.
I started a new lyrics book, something I haven't worked on in forver. Anyone who is familiar with writing music, lyrics usally come last, it just makes the process easier, so I have numerous books of material that will never see one chord.
Yet with our new style of writing, I think it might come in handy.
I've had alot on my mind and the ability to push through and break the writer's block is emerging.
I sit back and read some of my writings, then wonder, "Am I a bitter person?"
Or am I just fed up with things so my writings have taken a sarcastic turn for the darkside?
Don't get me wrong, I'm still the last guy you'd count out, and positivity reigns supreme, but it seems as of late, my attitude in writing has increased. Jer called it an almost "angst in disguise" I think that's a good way of looking at it.
Not angst towards my parents or the kids who picked on my in school, but an angst towards things I just can't quite put my mind around. Like why do we all have to live normal lives? Why is a high paying job, a pregnant wife and debt up to our necks the american dream?
There are so many of these type of questions that I just can't find myself in. Feeling like a stranger in the crowd has only become a bigger problem now that I've hit my mid 20's and my peers are..."old".
Am I a Vampire? Do I not age? Do I not exist on the same time line? Why do I appear to get younger with age? Am I a child? Do I need to grow up? What's growing up?
....
As you can read, I've been spinning.
But I've always found the strongest of writings come from these states, so I push my pen towards an album I hope will have an impact on someone or somehow change the rock music scene.
The Hot Topic deals brings forth a new avenue.
We've never had a store to sell our music, then also be able to sell our Album when it comes out. So we can set a release date and sell through Hot Topic when the album comes out, very cool.
We aren't even trying to come up with a date for our return, we are just writing and when it is done, it's done. When we come back, we come back. To quote Mark Solomon, "Keep waiting, I'll be right on time."
Though it is so weird not to be playing shows.
Not to be booking shows.
To turn down show offer after show offer.
People ask me when we are coming back and I say "I don't know." I see a look of fear go across their face, so i'm sure to include we are writing an album and recording and we'll be back before you know it. I can see from their expression some people think we might not be coming back.
They can think that, it'll be so much greater for them when we do return.
So dear LJ reader,
I'm sorry all I've blogged about is the band, but it seems to be all I can actually find myself in. Look at it this way, you get the inside scoop, hahaha.
*sigh*
Yup it's offical I'm a geek.
Comic News
Messiah Complex from Marvel Comics is a must read.
If you miss the X-men of the 90's, you'll love this series. I'm only 4 books into it but it is great.
Mr. Sinister is back, Gambit returns, Rouge is kidnapped, over 90% of the mutants are humans now and the mutant race is facing extinction, that is until a child is born to be a savior. Now he is hunted by Sinister, The X-men and The Purifiers( The Mutant hating Zealots who think it is God's will to kill every mutant).
So go pick it up, it spans the entire X-universe collection.
New Avengers, still a solid read but with issues not coming out frequent enough.
Mighty Avengers, same as above.
Music News
Not much to talk about,
Coheed and Cambria released a really epic album, I enjoy that,
Chevelle's new CD is really fun and I know this sounds lame, but it has been inspirational, not because of the nu metal riffs, hahaha, but because it's not a style I'd ever write in, but i like it, and somehow that makes me want to make music...okay that might sound totally stupid, but in my world it makes sense.
Incubus, no they haven't released anything new since last year, but i have been jamming, "Light Grenades" and "Morning View" very heavily.
Stretch Armstrong: "Compassion fills the void" and "Free at Last" have made workouts more fun.
The Misfits have started to fade away from their season, summer/fall is Misfits season for me.
wow, I really haven't been listening to much, oh well.
off to see the wizard,
Lockman
