Welp.. I had an interesting weekend. On friday, Debbie and I went out on our second "date". We ate at Ryan's (a buffet dinner place if you haven't heard of it), then we went and saw Bruce Almighty. It was a pretty good movie. It had a good, heartwarming story with plenty of laughs. I think it was worth the money. So yeah, after that we stayed the night at a hotel. (hee-hee!) That was actually my first hotel experience, so it was kind of interesting. We drank some beers, watched a little TV, and talked until about 5am. It sucked because we had to be out at 11am, so we missed out on a lot of sleep, but after we checked out, we caught up on some sleep at her parents' house.
Now comes the interesting part.. Around 4pm she got a call from her sister Jackie. Jackie had been having a guy she met at the hospital staying with her for about 2 weeks, and since his family lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, they went out there to visit them. So they drove out there and got themselves a hotel room. Well the day after they arrived, Kenny went off to see if he could borrow some money from his sister. He said he'd be gone about 20 minutes. Well, Jackie had a cooler full of beer and soda in her car, and he said he'd bring it up to the room later because it was kind of heavy. Kenny also had his stuff in her car. About an hour and a half after he left, Jackie was getting thirsty so she went out to her car to get a soda, and found that the cooler and Kenny's stuff was gone. At first, Jackie was thinking that it was just taking longer than expected, or maybe something happened to him, but when she saw that the cooler was gone she pretty much knew what happened. He fucking left her stranded in Tulsa. Yes, she had her car there, but she had just gotten this car recently, and it's a stick shift. She doesn't know how to drive a stick. Sooooooo, Debbie and I ended up having to drive all the way out there to pick her ass up. We left around 8pm saturday night (or at least finally got out on the road headed toward Tulsa around that time.) I didn't have to go, but the only other person (that knows how to drive a stick) available to go out there and drive Jackie's car back was their dad. But for one, he has Parkinson's disease, so it really wouldn't have been good for him, and for two, he had to work the next morning. So yeah, I pretty much had to. The only thing I regret is that I had to miss Genera's birthday party saturday night. Genera is one of my best friends, and I didn't want to miss her party for anything. But I did at least stop by and explain the situation to her. *sigh* It didn't seem like enough to me, but it was really all I could do.
Anyway, we went to Tulsa, stayed in the room that Jackie had (luckily they had already paid for the room for that night, and for me and Debbie to stay there they only charged us $20). In the morning, we packed up and headed back home. We did get to stop at the world's largest McDonald's though.. It's pretty much right inside the Oklahoma border on Interstate 44. It's actually built over the highway. Pretty interesting for McDonald's. haha
Ok, so sunday.. I had plans to try out for a band around 3pm. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it because it takes somewhere around 7 hours to get from Tulsa to St. Louis, and since we had planned on leaving around 11am that would have put us back in the area around 6pm. So I told them that I had to cancel. But as it happens, I got a call from the bass player while we were at our pit stop at the world's largest McDonald's.. He said that the band was going to be at his house between 6 and 10 for practice, and he asked if I could make it. I told him that even if I'm in the area around that time, I didn't know if I would be able to sing because I'd be pretty worn out, but I let him know that I'd at least try and that I'd call him when I got back. As it worked out, I ended up showing up at his house around 8pm, and I sang for the next 2 hours with them. I didn't really get a chance to talk and just hang out with them because it was sunday night and they all had to work in the morning, but they said that they liked my voice and they want me to come to their next practice which is this coming saturday. So yeah, I may be in a band. It's gonna take a few more practices to see if they really want me in the band, and also see if I really want to join the band, but for now they're willing to give me a chance. The only problem I have with them right now is they don't have a lead guitar player, so I get lost in some of the songs because I don't hear the solo.. haha But they're looking for someone, so hopefully they'll find one soon.
Yeah.. Well that was about a weekend and a half. I had fun even though I had to sit in a car for 14+ hours, and I got to spend some much-needed quality time with Debbie. It was an interesting weekend, to say the least. I called in to work today because I was so damn drained. But tomorrow, it's back to the routine. Bah.
