Yes, it's called Cervantropolis. Quite egotistical I know, but what started out as a little piece of flat nothing came a quite stunning little region that I've been working on!
As you may or may not know these things take an immense amount of time to create! So far my region is growing around a major city tile called "Green City." The premise about this city is that I am going to have a lot of green spaces and greenery with trees in the low density residential areas. Of course there will be skyscrapers but I can't help that once the game starts developing it picks out these buildings. Some of them I really don't like but that is the state of a free market I suppose.
The smaller villages or towns around Green City have a Forest-themed name to it. I try to use the word "Wood" in the name if possible. With the exception of "West University" I have a running theme going. I picked 3 of my cities that are showing some great promise (frankly I spent the most time on these already LOL!). Thanks for reading!
East Park
The the east of Green City is East Park. There is a big "Central Park" type of space that is lined with residential high rises on the west side and on the southeast side is the smaller commercial zone.
The northwest corner of the park which is un-named at this time. There is a large golf course for the richer Sims along the small lake.
Additional golf park space. I tried to build mass residential into the areas of the golf course so to add to the green space feel of the Green City area.
A view of east of the park. These taller buildings you see here are all over this city. I think this file I added is causing them to sprout like dandelions.
I love this stone bridge. It reminds me of the types of bridges that span the bayous here in Houston. This is the view just south of the golf course.
This is a field that is open grass space for the Sims to catch some rays, or play frisbee with their pooches. The views from the grassy knoll are spectacular!
This is the south end of the lake where there is a marina and a subway line (not pictured) which gives fast and direct access to Green City.
This is the view of the commercial center in the Southeast Corner of the park. Lots of underground parking and restaurants and shops. Coming soon: monorail service and more mid-rise residential neighborhoods.
And finally the north end of the park is the hood. These projects are a pain in my side but they are there and of course even the not so fabulous want to stay in an area that is livable too right? Damn freeloaders. Maybe I should raise the taxes and scare them away?
Research Forest
The southwest corner of Green City is Research Forest. I got the name from the name of a boulevard in The Woodlands, Texas. I wanted this area to be where research and scientific research could be carried out. I tried to meander some large avenues through the city, but of course with the grid of Sim City I could only do so much. So, here is the tour of Research Forest.
The Research Park which the city gets it's name from is home to a shuttle launch and NASA research centers. The neighborhoods are pretty wooded and the education quota is very high.
In the Research Park there is a secret aircraft facility called Area 5.1. Don't ask me why it's called that but the Evil Dr. Vo decided to have a facility here.
The neighborhoods are very typical and traditional.
But, they get great views and displays of The Shuttle missions!
North of the research park there is Saint Paul's square. All I did was tile different plaza squares for the effect. It's a great place to take wedding photos.
There is still a lot of room for growth east of the city. In fact, there are lots of undeveloped lots waiting for your the dream home of your very own.
Even more unused land already plotted out for roads and development.
A close up of the fountain in the round-a-bout in the unused territory.
West University
Just north of Research Forest is West University. Every Sim City seems to have a "University" of some sort. There is a little lake of water here. This city is directly west of Green City so it is a lot more developed than a lot of my other cities.
Here is an overview of the city from the air, as well as a shot of the map.
Here is the university for which the city is named. It is a few blocks from the sparkling lake.
A view from the University to the water's edge.
Million dollar mansions hang from the slopes of the beach. One of the only beaches in Cervantropolis, sadly enough.
A view of the South Shore of the lake. Single family residences abound.
The transit center adjacent to the University, also home to a Spanish style Cathedral.
A view of the West U Mall.
Russian Square
And, finally at the northern end of the city closer to the town of Westwood is this big cathedral.
Well that is it for now. More to come in a few more weeks unfortunately...
