[The video feed clicks on. An unsteady hand fumbles for the communicator desperately, its owner currently offscreen, but only manages to knock it further away. Harsh, labored breathing penetrates what would be an otherwise quiet night, and eventually, with a pained grunt, a second attempt for the device is successfully made

And he had disappeared. She knew, knows that he is gone, but that voice, that face... ]
'Dachi...?
[ She inhales sharply, unaware that she's activated the communicator's video function, that, for a fraction of a second, her expression is betrayed to him and the audience. She doesn't know, doesn't realize; she's swinging her legs over the side of the bed and moving rapidly to stand because it's him. (And who else could it be?) She's sure it's him. She would know that face, that voice anywhere. They had lived together for almost two months, but the signs, the symptoms she reads scream volumes as to his physical and mental state.

At least he remembers me. ]
Look, I'm almost there, so just...
[ Calm down or you'll be more of a hindrance than you will a help. Deep breath, deep breath. Don't betray so much concern. It's -- ]
How can you be so calm?

Valeria has always been a useful tool.]
M-me? No, you've got it all wrong, Val. I'm more relieved than anything...[a hiss of breath and he winces]...I'm just relieved that it's you.
