I wanted to see how many people can figure out the answer to this scenario. Don't spoil everyone's chance to figure this out by cheating, please.
An aged and somewhat eccentric king decides that he must pick the heir to his crown. He wants to pass on the throne to one of his two sons. After much thought and debate about the decisions on both princes, the king decides how he will choose the son that shall inherit the kingdom. One day, he tells both sons that they shall compete for the throne through a horse race. However, it is not a race of who's horse is the fastest. Whoever owns the slowest horse will become the king.
The two princes set out on their journey. Wandering around aimlessly as neither wanted to cross the line first and let the other succeed him. After a couple of days, both sons come upon a tent in the forest belonging to a wise old man. The wise old man talks to them and upon hearing what he has to say, the two sons quickly jump back onto their horses and race to the finish line.
What did the wise old man say?
