[…This was unexpected. After trying to figure out just where she was for a little while, Nunnally came to the conclusion that she had absolutely no idea. This wasn’t anywhere that looked even familiar to home

[ it takes him exactly five minutes after seeing this to actually respond, remembering that his suit is in the fucking washing machine and his mask is so far in his closet (piled under everything and anything he and Schneizel could possibly bury it under); and, it's incredibly inconvenient to only put on the mask and still look like 'Suzaku' no matter what.
and so he answers as 'Suzaku'. For Lelouch, he will bear with this for a little bit longer. ]
It's no trouble at all, Empress. [ a beat. ] You're in a place called Somarium.
[ he'd welcome her but he doesn't think it'd be a very... welcome sort of welcome. dry and artificial at most, because he wants her in Britannia, not... not here in this place. not entirely anyway, but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't happy (relieved) to see her. just like he was happy (relieved) to see Schneizel. ]
Somarium isn't in Britannia. It's... [ how does he word this? it came so easy when he was telling everyone else, but... with Nunnally, it's a little less easy. It's only been... around four months he believes? since he last seen her.
(and he almost hopes Schneizel doesn't notice she's here. but, ah, wishful thinking, and Suzaku will never be given the grace of a granted wish.)
but, after several moments he continues. ]
It's a dream world. Or, a world of dreams- depending on how you want to look at. [ and then a small gesture forward. ] The device you're using is for communication as you know. It can also broadcast dreams.
A dream world? [That doesn't quite make sense to her, but she can deal with it for right now. When he gestures to the Dreamberry, she looks down at it.]
Broadcasting dreams...[Nothing's making sense. Her eyebrows push closer together as she thinks it over.] How is it able to broadcast dreams?
Yes. [ the briefest of pauses- he doesn't want to flat out tell her she's dreaming, but he already modified the earlier statement so she should understand that... that she's not technically dreaming but is dreaming. this is too fucked up for him. for once, he finds that he doesn't quite care.
(a surprise to himself, and probably to those who will see her soon.) Lelouch included.
Suzaku won't want to see them or talk to them after this. he'll go to Schneizel and collapse probably. but, he won't go see them. (it's not worth the heartbreak, and he doesn't think it important for 'Suzaku' to go anywhere. Zero, on the other hand...)
nodding, breaking out of his thoughts. ] No one knows. It just does. Some are unpleasant, while others are not- I can't be too sure, to be honest. Its only happened once to me. [ said offhandedly, as if it really doesn't matter to him. (and it doesn't.) what happens will happen, after all. he is allowed no opinions. ]
[She understands it, though she doesn't quite believe it's possible. But then again, people bending others to their wills supernaturally wasn't supposed to be possible, either.
It'd been a while since she had been in her sterile environment.] I see. [She almost asked him what the dream was about, but caught herself. Maybe that conversation would be best for another time.]
Have you been here long? You sound like you've been here for a while. [Unless he's quicker than she is at gathering information. Which isn't impossible, but somehow she doesn't believe it.]
I've been here for three months. [ almost. ] I live with Schneizel and some... others.
[ considering how he is right now -- just answering her questions, not stepping out of line and keeping his formality where it belongs- right here in the now -- he's surprised Nunnally hasn't asked him why he's here. as far as she knows, 'Suzaku Kururugi' is dead. and he's never, not even once, taken off his mask in front of her, or done anything to prove that 'Zero' is 'Suzaku' otherwise (calling her 'Empress' on assumption that everything worked out). she doesn't know the details of Zero Requiem, or even much about it.
(he's even acting like the Knight of Zero right now, stiff in his stance, formal in his talking. not at all gentle, but not harsh either- just... neutral.)
so, why? her eyes are open, she's obviously from a time when she's Empress (asking for 'Zero', after all)- he expected her to be more surprised. but, ah, she must be thinking about this place. he knows she's not stupid (he'd be stupid to think that), but even so
( ... )
She's thinking it over. He had called her Empress before...and now that the original shock's wearing off, she's becoming confused what he's talking about now as well.
She blinks at his questions, and nods. She doesn't trust herself to talk about who's coming, because she may become emotional and she doesn't want it to come to that.
Though, now it's her turn to ask questions.] How did you know...I was Empress, Suzaku?
[ he just nods right on back. he doesn't ask who. he can already guess who went (no trouble there, after Lelouch was reduced to tears and spilled coffee finding out what had happened), and that's fine with him. even if some part of him thinks that Lelouch doesn't deserve this opportunity, a bigger part of him- well, it disagrees. Lelouch needs this right now, and he has no right to interfere.
(not yet not yet not yet)
and how did he know? well, he has an easy answer for that, and he doesn't hesitate to give it after a beat. ]
C.C. told me everything that happened. I found it only fitting to call you by your proper title.
[ a fine excuse, one that would cover him --(because it's C.C. and only C.C. would know at her point) -- hopefully. quietly hoping Schneizel hasn't said anything yet to indicate that Suzaku is, indeed, lying without even blinking his eye. (funny, that is. how he hates that Lelouch does it, and yet here he is, as if it were his second nature.) ]
Hm. [There's that name again, C.C. That mysterious girl she's only met once - and now Suzaku's speaking of her now as well. Though Nunnally supposes she can't be surprised - everyone at home should stick together.
Which makes her ask her next question:] Will I see you soon, then?
[ expecting that, his eyes narrow for a moment and he shakes his head. ]
No. It's likely that you won't be seeing me for a long time.
[ that is, if he has anything to say about it. of course, if Nunnally comes to see Schneizel- well, he'd figure something out. hide the mask with the suit and stay in his room. he doesn't need to see Nunnally. that's not a privilege he has as 'Suzaku'.
[She frowns. That isn't exactly the answer she was expecting, at all. Even though things had happened at home, it was no reason to hate him. She did want to see him again, if only for it to be like the old times.
Though, she supposes the three of them were too far gone for that now. It had been a childish thought to begin with.]
'Why not'? [furrowing his brows, he frowns as well.
he could answer that honestly. 'I killed your brother.' but, that would be the stupidest thing he's done since holding Lelouch, and he's done with stupid things. he could also tell her that he doesn't want to see her. but, he'd be chewed out by Lelouch later and he's done with that, too.
.... and he doesn't like that she's calling him 'Suzaku'. ]
It's nothing- nevermind. I apologize for stepping out of line.
[But why is he hesitating? If he didn't want to see her, why didn't he just say so? Everything else he's doing is screaming that he doesn't, and that hurts more than the words themselves.
So with a deep breath, she responds:]
There's no need to apologize - you didn't step out of line. [She smiles, though it's a shaky one.] If you're too uncomfortable to see me, it's okay. I can wait.
[It hurts. It hurts so much to say that, but she doesn't want to upset him either. Even though she wants to see him so badly, she can wait.]
and she remembers Zero.
Nunnally vi Britannia. ]

Though, his appearance does confuse her a little. Combined with him calling her "Empress", she's unsure as to what exactly is going on.]
Somarium? That doesn't sound like any of the places I've studied at home.
[Hold on, she's going to stay confused for a minute on this subject before even moving on to Suzaku himself.]
