MA Invades Texas, in a Nutshell....

May 16, 2005 15:11

Well my friends and family came down here this past week for my graduation. The week had it's ups and downs, but overall it was a great time had by all.

On Wednesday we went to "Snake Farm" in New Braunfels, which has every type of snake you can imagine, and a shitload of others animals in a "petting zoo" kind of place in the back of the snake building.

(I extract great enjoyment by terrifying children)

(He either wanted to mate with me or jack me up pretty badly!)

(Yes, the goat is trying to eat her pants.)

Later that evening we did a glass bottom boat ride down our local river, but I'm sorry to say that I was too lazy to take any pictures. I just have one of T. showing off his 6 pack in front of the river.

I think my friend S. has some pics of the boats and stuff though, so I may be able to accomodate those of you who are stomping your feet at your computer table in anticipation as we speak. :)

Later that night I brought my mom and my friend S. over to the facility where I work, and they got to meet the autistic kids, and our other girl (The guys were in town). I think it was an interesting experience for them. lol

We spent the next day touring around San Antonio. We saw the Alamo (yawn),

Rippley's Believe it or Not, the Wax Museum,

(hee hee hee!)

(T. making his own wax hand at the wax museum)

and then later that evening we met up with the rest of my family for a nice dinner by the Riverwalk, before we all had a wonderful lit up evening boat ride down the riverwalk. Again, I only have one crappy picture of our boat driver (I think his name was Pablo?). I know my Aunt took lots of great pictures of all of us on the boat, though, so I'll upload those when I get them. At midnight or so mom and I drove to my work to pick up my paycheck (it's a 24 hr residential facility), and Mom got to meet the guy I'm sort of seeing. The rest of the family was very jealous that they didnt get to meet him.

By this point I got bored with taking pictures so no more until I get them from the family. Friday was G-day, and I graduated Cum Laude, yadda yadda yadda. After that we went over to Joe's Crab Shack (A college clubish type restaurant by the river) and had a fabulously drunken time (pictures and details to come lol).

Saturday most of my family went home so it was just a relaxing BBQ at my complex, and day using the pool and hot tubs for me, mom, dad, S. and T. Later that night we had a hillarious time at the local chinese restaurant that I'll go into more detail about once I get some pictures back. lol

Sunday we all went into church, and although (excluding my mom) more excited that "wow, you really sit next to Shawn!" they all seemed to enjoy the service. Later we went by the mall to get suveneirs and such. T. got along really well with B.'s sister (I think he has a little crush lol), and it was cute to watch them beat each other up and such. We all tried tequilla (flavored) lollypops w/ a real (freeze dried) worm in it for the first time, and then I exposed them (excluding L. who introduced it to me) to mexican candy.

The weather was beautiful and I was able to stand my ground about my faith without being abrasive when family brought up the issues. It's very apparent that a lot of them want me to be like I was before. My uncle repeatedly brought up "mystical" stories, etc, and S. gave me this Tarot Card game thing for a graduation gift. I had no idea what to say when she gave me that gift. I just sort of said a flustered "Thanks" and put it down, going back to whatever we were doing prior to opening the gift. People are really funny sometimes, but we all still had a great time!

Loveyoumeanit,
IF

Pee Ess Congrats to all my friends (in MA and TX) who graduated this year, and I wish you the best in whatever you pursue!
