Im officially a crazy house employee! I was told I got "glowing references" (exact words lol) from past employers, and I passed the little math/logic/written exam thing, so now all I have left is to get my physical exam on Friday, complete one day of training Monday, and then 2 more days when I get back from thanksgiving break in MA.

I was under the impression that I would be considered part time because I was only requesting 35 hours a week, but apparently anything over 32 hours is FULL TIME. This company has AMAZING benefits, so I'm pretty psyched about that. The only compromise I had to make when requesting that many hours was that I might have to split some of my time at the school and work a few hours at an adult rehab center right down the street from the school. They really aren't looking for full-time help, so I'm just happy they'll work with me on the hours. Start pay is 9.25 an hour (that'd be about = to 11-12 dollars an hour in MA). We don't get cost of living raises, but we get paid according to our performance, and training. I get $1000 extra a year once I complete my UNDERGRAD degree! I'll also get other raises when I complete more of the training the company supplies. I can even take a test to become a certified "brain injury specialist". They have a really good health/dental plan where the employee only has to pay 34%, and the company picks up the rest. I'm still covered under my parents insurance until I'm 23, but it's good to know for future reference. Also, if (when) I get beat up at work, they pay for any related hospital fees and such. lol They also told me about the 401K plan... I forgot how much we could put in..but it was a good ammount..and I think the company matches 4% of what we put in(or however that works). I don't get any paid time off for 6 months, and then, depending on how many hours, I think I'm allowed 4 or 5 paid vacation days. Thinking of the waaaay future, they said after I've worked there for 5 years, I'm allowed 25 PAID days off a year!

It felt so weird when the woman was telling me about all the full-time benefits, and such. I was smiling and nodding professionally, while at the same time wanting to scream "I'm only 22! Are you sure you want to hire me???" lol It's just so weird thinking that I'm being trusted with a job like this. I don't feel professional, but as my soon to be supervisor tells all the employees, "Believe it or not, we're the professionals here (as aposed to the students), and if we aren't, we fake it". lol

The next question that comes to mind is Grad School. It would be SO nice not to have to worry about school anymore, once I graduate. It's so tempting to just jump into this career, make a fairly good living, and forget about grad school. Knowing that I can be a certified Brain Injury specialist without taking any more classes is so tempting, also. I'm still going to take my GRE and everything for Grad school, but I need to do some serious cost/benefit analysis of the situation.

In other news. Surprise surprise, I'm madly in love with the kitten.

Loveyoumeanit,
IF
