Summary: Takes place during the time when Suzaku had Kallen captured on Kaminejima. Kallen contemplates a means of escape.
A/N: For albel! Sorry this took so long. Inspiration failed me and even now I don't think of this as my best. D:
The fire's blazing flames cast fleeting shadows across Suzaku's sleeping face. Was he an idiot? Kallen asked herself this question as she cautiously worked at her bindings while the young man slept. Didn't the Britannia army teach him to never leave his prisoner unattended to? Upon inspecting his even breathing, she quickly figured not.
Kohzuki Karen...
The name flashed though her mind as she recalled how she introduced herself to the Honorary Britannia soldier. Silently, she wondered if he thought of her differently now. He had complimented her personality, saying it was more charming than the her that appeared in the student council. When he had said that, she felt a strange feeling overcome her. He actually found the real her more attractive than the refined version of herself that he's used to seeing her portray?
Suzaku turned to face her in his sleep and immediately Kallen froze like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming car. The redhead noticed his still closed eyes and let out a sigh of relief. False alarm.
"Go to sleep, Kallen." Kallen gasped her surprise, evidently startled by him. "You're not getting out of that knot anytime soon."
Kallen glared at him. She wanted to get up and hit him, but the fact that she was tied up currently impeded the idea. She could kick him, but she didn't want him to tie her legs together like he had threatened earlier. Being an accomplice of Zero taught her that fighting against Suzaku right now would bear no fruit. Tomorrow, she'd look for an opening... and pounce. Until then, Kallen would cooperate with this dog of Britannia.
"Fine." Kallen stated evenly. She lay her body down and attempted to sleep.
Her closed eyes were unable to relay the vision of the brunette's triumphantly smirking lips. He liked a good challenge.
