Yay, two updates from you in one day! I love the way you've recreated the typical "girl crying in the high school bathroom" scene here, and did so beautifully. Demi hearing the taunts and whispers at the prom is so sad, but well-written enough to show Demi that no matter how far she runs, they'll always be there. It's so sad, but Selena shows that she'll always be there too, that she'll never be able to outrun Selena. I'm also intrigued by the concept that neither girl can pinpoint a distinct thing that went wrong, but that somehow a rift grew over time that they couldn't shake. It actually seems to be the most accurate of anything I've read.

The contact with Selena has her heart racing again, but for entirely different reasons. And all she wants to do is kiss her best friend. But this isn’t truth or dare when they were fourteen years old, this is different, this is real. I love this, because I'm so convinced that something like this happened in real life.

She hates seeing her best friend look so distraught, it kills her and all she wants to do is take all her pain away. She wants it to travel through Demi, into their locked hands and exit into her. Selena following to comfort her even in the face of all her own hurt and their current issues just completely resonates with me and fits her personality so well. The way she notices the subtle shift in those three words, and responds back the same way, could only really happen with them. The reassurances between kisses, so adorable and sweet and loving. Why did neither of them see that it was this thing between them, the jealous hurt and longing for more, that created the rift in their friendship?

Please, keep writing these two, because you always do it so well.
