I had an electoral blast!
The BNN election party was one of the coolest ways I could have spent the election. Granted, I was on camera almost the whole time but it was nice to feel apart of something.
The show went on for four hours- FOUR HOURS of comedy. It was funny, exciting, always something happening and the energy was electric. But once we knew that Obama had won, the 100+ people erupted and the show had to stop. We piped in on the big screen McCain's speech and then Obama's which choked me up a bit. The whole thing choked up me. To know that finally Bush is going to be gone was such a relief. Honestly we as American's should have canned him a long time ago, but corruption is a hard bug to kill.
After that, the show sort of went flat. I did my bit, but with no one really paying attention I got no laughs (although I though my bit was HILARIOUS) and then we sort of just ended it. It was around 12:30 and the streets of Cambridge were on fire (not really) with crowds screaming and cheering. Cars were honking their horns at every moment and people were shirtless in the streets. I mean, this WAS Cambridge. You can't get more liberal than SanFran. I was taken by it all and beeped my horn a fair few times but all in good fun. I gave my high fives and hugs to the crew and left feeling satisfied but also apprehensive.
Will he really be better? Could be be worse? And of course some other worries which will stay in my head.
History is a very cool thing.
