Wow, I'm exhausted. Just got back from Suwon. We left at around 1:00pm this afternoon and now its almost 1:30am. We spent about eight-nine solid hours walking alone. Without further adieu:

This is the highway about a block from where I live. I took this on the way to the bus stop.

This is Suwon Station in Suwon. Its about 30 minutes south of Uiwang/Anyang, where I live.

This is the entrance to Hwaseong. Hwaseong is a giant wall that was the original city plan for the city of Suwon. Its kind of like the Citadel hill in Halifax, except twenty times bigger and less boring. It was designed 200 years ago as an enclosed, fortified, city and in the latter part of the 20th century the city of Suwon sprung up around it. Suwon is probably several times the population density of Toronto. Yeah, everything back home feels small to me now.

This is a friend of mine who found his way up the wall before the rest of us.

This is the tourist bureau overlooking the small part of Suwon.

These little guard posts were everywhere along the wall. Some of them made great resting places (more later).

Us making our way along the wall.

This is Suwon proper. Unfortunately, since I don't have a panoramic camera, this is only a slice of how big Suwon is. Imagine 360 degrees of this.

This is a little shop at the bottom of the mountain where the fortress begins. The area behind where I took this picture was quite entertaining.

This is on our way through Suwon, we actually walked in there later on.

This is a gold statue that is part of a Buddhist shrine.

I love this picture. We were in a guard house here that is designed to be a rest stop, so we all took our shoes off (per instructions) and lounged around for the better part of an hour. I was laying down when I got this picture.

This is a temple. We didn't make it in before closing, but it was still worth a see. There was a stable out back with horses, but I didn't get any pictures because by this point I was almost out of memory on my camera.

Same temple.

After this, we made our way into the city where we ate a three course meal, then fought with the subway system for the better part of an hour trying to get home. Subways here are insane. I'm sure they are everywhere, but given the density of South Korea I think its fair to say that they're crazier here than most other places.

Anyway, enjoy! I'm off to get some much deserved sleep.
