I've been devoting more time recently to trying to break into journalism - difficult! - and realised it had been ages since I'd last written an opinion piece rather than reviews or interviews. I'd been meaning to write about regressive storytelling with respect to the reboot at DC but between my first draft and today's finished piece, my opinion

I just think that in the end, Babs was so much more than just Batgirl.

Oracle was fit for her - and she was fit for it - and it used her intelligence without regulating her to a background character because she was disabled.

That's the issue I have with the Babs to Batgirl again is it takes away so much more of what Barbara Gordan *was* and *is*.

Definitely, and I think that's part of the progression of women over the decades that reboots often lose. Men have always been in the foreground - a reboot doesn't change that :/
