DC Confirms Barbara Gordon Returning As Batgirl

I'm pissed that one of the few disabled characters in comics is essentially being retconned in to walking again (while this is more palatable than Oracle being cured by 'magic' it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth), and I'm so furious that of course, Gail Simone is writing it (unlike the Mary Sue blogger). I don't trust Gail to handle anything sensitively, after she's proven over and over again she doesn't understand privilege, racism or sexism, no matter how much she might claim she does.
(For those that know nothing of comics - Barbara Gordon was Batgirl in the Batman universe until Alan Moore's The Killing Joke - where the Joker shot her and paralyzed her. She became Oracle, a member of the Birds of Prey and a hugely important character to the DC universe, not to mention one of the few disabled characters in comics to not be "cured." As for Gail Simone, she's written a number of racist and sexist things, then defended them without listening to people's concerns on tumblr. The same kind of crap caused her to leave scans_daily on dreamwidth.)
