And that's when I realized: this relationship was doomed from the start, from my very first choice to inhabit a male player character. Even using mods or hacks would never change this crucial consequence of the story:

well, it's more than a vagina. you'd need a human noble vagina. the landsmeet in an alistair romance was interesting to me because it showed that love can't conquer politics, unless you're willing to be the mistress or run away from public life entirely. i like this darker aspect of relationships in the DA 'verse. being torn between love and responsibility makes for good drama. do you let the PCs feelings for alistair influence their political decision-making or not? i found it really satisfying from a RP perspective to romance him as a human noble fem but marry him to anora due to my character's ruling-class cynicism.

IA about the 'we cant procreate' angle making this gay marriage discussion very problematic, especially in that it excludes women.
