I finally decided to start learning German because I'm into German rock. I thought people might laugh at my reasons but I had the first lesson (small privately held class was all I could find nearby) and the teacher was amused in a good way by my motivation. (I realize there are much better reasons to learn any language but that was my main reason for actually starting, so.)

I think any reason that will get you out and doing it is a pretty good reason, myself. Good for you!

dude, that's my reason for learning German. well, that and the festivals. so ok, industrial more than rock but you know... :D

Yay, I'm not alone!

It was embarrassing that I couldn't even pronounce the name of my favorite band correctly at the first lesson, but I'll improve with practice I hope.

Trust me, you will! :D My German is stilla torocissoua and I can't even hold down abasic concvversation. I will, therefore, blooody well find a phrasebook and extrapolate soon.
