After using German, Turkish, Israeli, and Swedish blades from my razor blade sample pack, I decided to try the famously sharp Japanese Feather blades today. I have been looking to this moment with both trepidation and anticipation since my beard is rather tough, but the shaving boards are filled with stories of people unknowingly cutting up their face with these things.
The Feather did indeed produce the finest, smoothest shave I've gotten since I started using a DE razor. But after I finished rinsing my face and putting on aftershave, I put my glasses back on and noticed my neck was covered in slowly growing pools of red. I never felt a thing - not while I was shaving, not when I applied aftershave, not even as I subsequently applied a styptic pencil. Man, that's sharp!
