Adventuras de Londres

Went into London both yesterday and today - and let me tell you, it costs a right packet!

First off, £15.10 for a day travel card that basically covers a return ticket to my station plus underground. That's $30 USD last time I checked (I just got back from Florida so I can't help but change everything back into dollars!)

So, after about a 40-50 min train ride into Waterloo station I met one of my good friends Toni and so before embarking on our London travels we went and ate McDonalds and got a Starbucks cappuccino. (Which is, of course, the only course of action as I get very grumpy when I'm shopping If I've got an empty stomach)

Then, we began our journey in the underground. And believe me, if I hadn't been with Toni I'd have been doomed! We caught the northern line up to Camden Markets and so I showed her around as she'd never been before. And my god! The marajuana! It was everywhere! And my mate is pretty naive when it comes to drugs, so it was very much along the lines of this:

Toni: Oh! Wow! I didn't know that Bob Marley had his own line of cigarettes!
Daisy (me): ... -_- I don't think they're cigarettes

and

Toni: Mmmm - that smells really nice, is it insense?
Me: Just keep on walking, I'll tell you later.

Funnily enough, she's extremely bright - but like most bright people she's also not particularly streetwise.

After buying my little sister a birthday present and buying myself a scarf the both of us went and got a chinese massage! Haha - it was quite the bonding experience. After that, we decided to go to Portobello Markets.

And so, we took the train the Tottenham Court Road (I very nearly pursuaded her for us to buy a "Who the fuck is Harry Potter?" shirt so that we could stand next to the sign and point to it - HP7 reference, yes?) Then changed so we could get to Nottinghill Gate and then walked to Portobello Markets.

As it is just my luck, we went on a weekday so there was literally nothing there other than spray painted strawberries. I was mainly going for my friend as she was getting excited as Portobello Markets was in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I think it was something of a let down for her.

Then it was back to get the underground (something-or-rather Grove) where we had to change at Paddington, but missed it so got off at Baker Street. From there we caught the tube to Waterloo. And I went home!!!!!!!!!!!

And today.... our neighbour managed to get us a private tour of the Houses of Parliament!!!! It was immense (me being a major Tudor boff and all) and just generally cool.

Ummmm - I think that's it :)
