Ariadne is from a upper middle class family. She did her bachelors in the states but is completing her masters in paris. She has a younger brother whom she is very close to. Her parents are still together and she's very close to them as well. She is however really independent. She's also very observant, nosy, and blunt so her friends are few, but the ones she has are amazingly close.

Saito has two bothers, one older and one younger and an older sister. He's always been very focused and very serious. His brothers are the usual middle management types. His sister a teacher. He's close with his sister, but his brothers resent him for his success and his harsh ways. His mother has been dead since he was 8. His father was a good businessman, so he grew up upper class raised mostly by caretakers. He took over his father's business at an early age, say 19 ish due to his father becoming ill. He proceeded to expand it successfully. He left his father's business when his father died, selling it off for a large sum. He was hired by Proctus Global. He started out high because of his business skills and connections form his father's company. He quickly moved farther up the ranks in the company eventually taking it over. He has a wife, whom he's not close to. it's mostly for propriety and show. She cheats but he doesn't care. He cheats, with a married woman as well as a few others. He has no kids.

Robert is a momma's boy. She was a warmth in his life where his father was ice. When she died it ruined his world, throwing him into an icy existence of never being able to please his father or earn affection. He's an only child and after his mother's death was raised by caretakers. They always leave though, his father being overbearing, so his attachments are guarded since people leave so easily. Despite his rocky relationship with his father, he is a very good businessman. He's shrewd and observant and cynical. Browning, his godfather and only steady male example is like a surrogate father though Robert knows he's not really.

Yusef is was born and raised in England. He grew up the poor son of two hard working immigrant parents who run an Indian restaurant. He has five sisters. As the son he was expected to take over the business but he's never been interested in running a restaurant. He had a love for science at a very early age. He's extremely intelligent but not rebellious like Eames. He found and outlet in indulgent teachers who nurtured his studies.

He's extremely intelligent but not rebellious like Eames. He found and outlet in indulgent teachers who nurtured his studies. He defies his parents leaving them with his sisters to run the restaurant, by attending Cambridge on partial scholarship where he majored in chemistry. He paid the rest of his school off by creating and selling drugs for fellow students. He was brought on as an early consultant to the UK dream share program because of his excellence in experimental sedatives. He left the program due to it's strict nature and control over chemical experimentation, which is ironic since that is what they wanted him for. He graduates from Cambridge but finds typical chemistry work difficult due to it's slow development. Patents and clinical trials take far too long when he knows he can get more done and benefit more people by experimenting himself. He leaves the industry to start developing on his own.

He teams up with a former member from the dream share program to start illegal sleep lab/dream dens. He's one of the first to bring dreaming to the general public for this use. He sees the therapeutic value, but it also allots him a steady income for his experimentation. He eventually meets Eames when Eames is in Kenya for a job with Cobol and hires him as a chemist. They quickly become friends over stories about shared youth as poor Englishmen.
