Consultation: At what point should each round be closed?

Aug 13, 2010 00:19

Hi, everyone!

Round 2 was closed to new prompts once it reached five thousand comments, but it looks like we're going to max out the comment limit within a few days. An overflow post for round 2 will go up on Saturday.

The threshold should be definitely be lowered from five thousand. I think three thousand is a safe number, but I would like to hear your thoughts before I implement any rule.

What do you think? At what point should each round be closed?

-----------------------------------------------------------
 ETA: I appreciate the feedback, guys. Thank you! Succeeding rounds will be closed at three thousand comments. I have amended the rules to include the following:

  • Keep conversations to a bare minimum when it doesn't directly involve the request or fill in question. We have a discussion post for that.
  • Please refrain from repeating prompts from the earlier rounds. Search the Delicious account first, and if you're adequately convinced that your prompt isn't a duplicate, you may post it on the current round. A prompt is considered a repeat if it is substantially similar in content, without any difference in detail, to an existing prompt in the meme
  • If you notice that a prompt has been double posted, or is very similar to a previous request, please reply to the duplicate prompt with a link the existing prompt.
Also, thanks for calling my attention to the fact that a uniform 1 AM GMT launch time automatically places a group of people at a disadvantage. From now on, launch times will vary. Instead of launching round 4 at 1 AM GMT, it will go live on Sunday (15 Aug), at 3 PM GMT. Round 5 will go live at 6 PM GMT, Round 6 at 9 PM GMT, and so forth.

The following shortcuts will be appended to future rounds:

ASK THE MOD ::: BETA VOLUNTEER POST ::: DELICIOUS ACCOUNT ::: DISCUSSION POST ::: PIMP POST

FILL LIST ::: ROUND 1 ::: ROUND 1 OVERFLOW POST

ROUND 2 ::: ROUND 2 OVERFLOW POST

ROUND 3 ::: FLAT VIEW

I'm not going to screen or delete any comments, and memegoers may still party within the prompt post itself. Although providing an easy access link to the discussion post (see above) will hopefully make people more cognizant of the fact that they may continue conversations over there, if they desire to. I understand where you're coming from. The lulz and the squeeing are my favorite things about this meme, as well. :D
