Fact-Checking, Style, Structure, Spelling and BASIC Grammar/ReadabilitycognomenAugust 2 2010, 16:54:32 UTC
1. Pairings, scenarios, genres and kinks that you are willing to beta. I am a fairly open human being, so I'll beta pretty much any pairing for this fandom. I'm also open to most kinks, so it'd be faster just to list the ones I won't, as I do below. I really like the idea of a great big open partnership in the team, so they could really all sleep together in any combination they desired, but that's probably not a common worldview, sadly.
2. Pairings, scenarios, genres and kinks that you do not want to beta. Kinks I won't beta: Scat, Vore, Underage. I'm not crazy about Water Sports either, but not totally adverse to beta-ing for it. Scenarios I dislike unless you really wow me with them: Wussy Arthur. I really don't like 'cry all over each other' stories, either, except in extremely exceptional circumstances. (Character Death for example). Would rather not do any fic in which Non-Con or Rape is the only relationship interaction - if you break it, you have to fix it again.
3. Preferred mode of communication (email, pm, reply to comment). E-mail for certain, 'Catchyname(at)gmail.com'.
4. Maximum length (in number of words) that you are willing to look over. I will read and beta any length of fic so long as if it is long it is understood that I have a full time job and my own writing obligations.
5. Time constraints, if any. I work full time and write, and also enjoy some quiet time. I am willing to take on 1 project at a time.
FURTHER NOTES I am a tough beta, but polite. Expect your fic to get what it deserves as far as attention & suggestions from me. I beta with Abi-word, using it to highlight my changes in a different colored text. Usually a lot of it. If you don't want/can't stand that kind of feedback (and I don't mind if a lot of it is discarded, either, I'm an easygoing person), I'm not the beta for you.
What I would really, REALLY like is for someone to be a trade-beta. I'd love to have someone who I could reliably send my own work to, and we could work as beta-buddies. Would prefer someone with a similar style of beta-ing to my own, idea bouncing and clarity work! Thank you.

Beta-buddy position has been satisfactorily filled, but I may still be available for one-shot beta work if you drop me an e-mail or PM first! Thank you. :)
