"Can I ask a question," Arthur says.
It's almost not a request with his tone, but Eames envisions a long future of answering two questions every time Arthur wants to ask one and says, "Don't ask me if you can ask questions: just ask them." He doesn't look up from where he's perusing magazines.
Arthur doesn't answer that verbally. "Is there a particular reason you're in a hurry to get to Mombasa?"
"I've got a chemist there," Eames answers, picking a magazine and flipping through it. "Yusuf. Excellent man, makes his own compounds for dreaming." He glances back at Arthur to see the other man's reaction; his face is carefully blank. "More importantly, he has several PDs in his possession, which will let me take you on a test drive." He smiles, all teeth, and watches Arthur's very, very blank features.
Eames hasn't met a man he can't read before, but Arthur is proving to be a challenging case.
"Your selling point, you realize - other than your aside, which, I assure you, is of interest to me," Eames promises with a wink, "is that you're a capable point man."
Arthur relaxes. It's almost imperceptible, but his shoulders drop and his chest falls from a breath being let out and he says, "I'm better than capable. I'm the best you'll ever have."
"Oh, we'll see," Eames says, but he's quite happy to play the odds here.
Arthur continues, though: "I don't know if you're aware, but Kenya and the surrounding countries require slaves to be either tattooed or branded."

Eames almost drops the magazine he's holding.
