After much discussion my karaoke partner Morgan (who for anyone on myspace is that cute little purple picture that keeps appearing on my page as no one else leaves comments) and I will be doing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" on Saturday night.
And it's supposed to be two degrees on Saturday so it's appropriate for a ton of reasons.
We were going to do "Under Pressure" by David Bowie and Queen (she was going to sing the Freddy Mercury part) but since Hillary might not be able to make it, we're going to put that off for a while.
Maybe perform it for Hillary around her birthday.
In "researching" the performance (which just made her and I more nervous since it seemed like actual performance as opposed to just drunken karaoke), I came across this great You Tube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D11BIl7EO8 And this article from The Telegraph ranking the
Top 50 Best Duets Ever Not to make a French joke since they're in such poor taste, but I am really sick of Zinedine Zidane waffling about if he wants to come to MLS.
Frankly at this point, he's 18 months into retirement and is so far out of the footcer reality that he thing
going to Red Bull New York is a good thing.
So he's really better off just staying retired because getting lost in that wasteland of a team would be pointless.
Maybe he's just trying to help in the hype machine that MLS makes out of this sort of thing.
Frankly at this point, I don't care.
When I was in New York City last August and went to see "Rent," I was really sad at the end because I realized that it was probably the last go-round for Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp.
The fact that they had gotten seemingly too old to play youthful boehemians did it more than anything.
But now it turns out that I should have been doubly sad since
"Rent" is ending its Broadway run on June 1.
I guess it's best to go out on top and the thing couldn't last forever but I was just hoping it could outlast the current run of "Phantom Of The Opera" to become the longest running show currently still open on Broadway. When "The Lion King" closed in July, it was up to #2 on that list.
I found the
Top 10 longest running Broadway plays and it confirms "Rent" is the second longest running rock opera in Broadway history (behind only "Les Miserables," which is a rock opera according to Wikipedia). It's far ahead of "Grease" and looks to keep its spot ahead of "The Lion King" for at least a while.
So that's at least something for it to hang its hat on for longevity.
Maybe Morgan and I will have to reprise our award winning (by us) rendition of "Take Me Or Leave Me" in honor of this sad occasion. This time I might even let her be Joanne.
