It's interesting to note that Americans (okay, lets be fair, it's mostly the mainstream American media) are really jumping onboard with this whole Iranian 'democracy' thing. Let's put aside for a moment the fact that the American government (I almost wrote 'our' government, ha!) recently released Department of Defense training material that
urges personel to consider peaceful, legal protests as "low level terrorism", even as the president has declared his support for the Iranian protesters. What I find interesting is the level of support being thrown behind a group that is protesting, sometimes violently, about one of two near-figureheads who are both operating within a completely authoritarian system. I guess it feels familiar to most Americans, but we're too cowed to bother doing anything about it when we have voting fraud. The U.$.A. regime is just pissed that the mullah government ousted the shah they put in place. But hey, if anyone here gets the wrong idea, let's make them think they can
get shit done on Twitter instead of doing anything effective, and
save the environment by driving your fucking hybrid. Wouldn't want to rock the boat and be impolite with
direct action.
Oh yea, and people fighting over which bureaucrat they want getting 24/7 coverage (not that it's not important), while
indigenous people getting machine-gunned while fighting against their own genocide in Peru or
even nearby fighting for their sovereignty and being met by
killer robot drones get not a fucking mention? Of course not. Fat cat capitalists (yea, I just typed that) are making tons of money from killing them there Indians. Can't question that bottom line and our capitalist god, Production.
Fuck you, Taker scum.
