It's been over a week since Merrily was attacked, and the communities of the Kingdom of Loathing and Secret Society Wars is banding together strongly. There's a silent auction being organized, a fund drive using in-game items, and simply put, just asking people to help. One of my other clannies has put a thoughtful post to the game community here. Other people have taken it on themselves to join in, offering prizes and changing their profiles in memory of Drew and in hope and prayers for Merrily (Aces). She's welcomed sharing of her youtube.com videos.
Merrily is physically healing. Andrew was buried last Friday, Good Friday. She says that it's the support of the community, the prayers, the hopes, the tears, and the outpouring of love that is holding her together right now. I'm amazed at her strength, I can not wrap my head around what she has been through, and I hope to never fully understand. The outpouring of love and compassion from a community of strangers is helping to heal the terrible wound done.
That said, if you feel so inclined to help her, she is in financial need. Merrily has been a stay-at-home Mom, and currently has no income. Medical, funeral, and other bills have come in quickly as you can imagine. Gem's post has all the info needed. Once the auction site is live I'll share it here, in case that tempts you.
