Phedre is gone.

I know it, as well as I know my own self, as well as I know her.

I am woken by a rumble in the ground, something utterly foreign to me, and this combined with the fact that my bed is empty beside me fills me with nothing but pure, unadulterated terror.

She is gone. It is though she just left in the night, gone elsewhere to seek her rest.

I know nowhere else to go, no one to turn to, save one. If I am right, then my life has no purpose save one. If my hunch is wrong, well, then may Elua have mercy on us all, for I know not where she has gone.

I quickly dress and arm myself and run to the only place I know to go: Hyacinthe's.

"Hyacinthe!" I shout, pounding on the doorframe of his hut. "Come out!"
