2 cups sugar 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 sticks margarine 1 cup water 6 tablespoons cocoa 1/2 cup sour cream 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon baking soda
INSTRUCTIONS Mix first three ingredients together in a large bowl and set aside. Bring next three ingredients to a boil. Remove from heat immediately and add to dry ingredients. Stir in last three ingredients. Blend thoroughly, do not beat. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan and bake at 375 for 20 - 25 minutes. Test with toothpick. Frost in pan with Texas Sheet Cake Icing while still warm.
Texas Sheet Cake Icing
INGREDIENTS
6 tablespoons milk 1 stick butter or margarine 6 tablespoons cocoa 1 box powdered (confectioners) sugar 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
Bring first three ingredients to a boil. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth. Ice cake in pan while warm.
The recipe originally given to me had only 4 T. cocoa in cake and in icing, but I like my chocolate a little darker. This cake is so easy, you dont even use a mixer
